Who We Are

An independent Afghan non-governmental organization established in October 2017, dedicated to community health, maternal survival, clean water, and emergency medical missions.

Our Foundation & Background

The Organization for People's Health in Action (OPHA) (مؤسسه صحت مردم در عمل / په عمل کې د خلکو روغتیا مؤسسه) was established in October 2017 by experienced Afghan public health professionals and humanitarian workers. Officially registered with the Afghan Ministry of Economy (Registration #4230) and certified by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), OPHA operates as an autonomous, non-political, non-profit humanitarian agency.

Over 9 years of sustained field engagement, OPHA has addressed the complex health emergencies of Afghanistan by operating static Sub-Health Centers (SHCs), Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams (MHNTs), therapeutic feeding units, and water infrastructure across provinces such as Nooristan, Faryab, Laghman, Nangarhar, and Paktika.

Our Core Principles & Governance

  • Humanity & Impartiality: Medical assistance is delivered strictly according to clinical need, without discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, or background.
  • Strict Fiscal Transparency: All programs undergo independent third-party external audits, and reports are published annually for public and donor scrutiny.
  • Gender-Sensitive Healthcare: Prioritizing female healthcare providers, qualified midwives, and female psychosocial counselors to guarantee unhindered access for rural women.
  • Community Ownership: Establishing Community Health Shuras in every village where we operate to maintain accountability, safety, and cultural resonance.
